Iran rejects Argentina claims
The spokesperson for Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as 'distortion of realities' the recent claims of the president of Argentina.
Behram Qassemi rejected Mauricio Macri's claims and said the Islamic Republic of Iran rejects terrorist acts anywhere and in any form.
Qassemi said Iran has repeatedly denounced AMIA bombing and has sympathized with the families of the victims.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated Iran agreed to hold talks with the president of Argentina to discover the truth regarding the bombing through a UN platform in 2012 and signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) in 2013. However the government of Argentine was not prepared to implement the agreement it had signed.
Ghasemi said the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to emphasize constructive cooperation with the Argentinean officials, and has launched a new initiative for the meeting between the judicial authorities of the two sides.
The AMIA bombing, Argentina's deadliest bombing ever, was an attack on the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina building which occurred in Buenos Aires in 1994. The tragic incident claimed the lives of 85 people and injured hundreds.
On 25 October 2006, two Argentine prosecutors, Alberto Nisman and Marcelo Martínez Burgos, and the Zionist regime accused Iran of engineering the bombing and the Hezbollah of carrying it out.
The claim has been denied by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
