Due to the closeness of the mid-term congressional elections and developments in Iran, none of the parties, neither Tehran nor Washington, are ready to come to the negotiating table and give concessions to each other, a professor has said.

Sina Azdi, a professor of international relations at George Washington University and a researcher at the Atlantic Council, told ILNA that due to the closeness of the mid-term congressional elections and developments in Iran, none of the parties, neither Tehran nor Washington, are ready to come to the negotiating table and give concessions to each other.

He added that all parties are holding off at the present time to determine where the developments in Iran will end and what the results of the congressional elections will be and whether the democrats will be able to maintain the majority of the congress.

He noted that the general policy of the United States is that all dual-citizen prisoners should be returned to this country, but I think this issue is not part of the JCPOA and is next to the JCPOA and is defined as a side agreement.
