Iran calls on EU to act for saving Iran's Deal

During the meeting, Araqchi welcomed Europe’s stance toward JCPOA, however saying that merely, adopting a political stance to support the deal is not enough, and Europe should take a practical approach toward the historical pact.

The senior Iranian diplomat added that the JCPOA is an important security agreement towards which the whole members of the global society have a duty to preserve it.

Kozjacski, for his part, said Europe is committed to preserving JCPOA and will try to find the best ways to protect the Islamic Republic’s economic interests guaranteed by the deal.

Referring to the longstanding friendly ties between the two nations, the Romanian ambassador said his government will make every effort, during chairmanship at European Union, to help pave the way for the expansion of Iran-Europe ties.

Also on the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, in an interview with the Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel, that the Europeans are slow in implementing their undertakings under the (2015) nuclear deal. We will not wait for them (long) unless they take practical steps.

He renewed warnings to the European Union to speed up launch of its long-awaited Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that is to enable banking and trade with Iran to keep the country under the nuclear deal after the US retreat last April.

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini announced earlier this month that the EU would establish a mechanism to facilitate non-dollar transactions with Iran in the near future in a bid to bypass the sanctions imposed by the United States against Tehran.
