Iran and Pakistan relations have experienced ups and downs but the relations are too close to be affected by the coming and going of governments, an expert on Pakistan has said.

Commenting on today’s visit of the Pakistan foreign minister to Tehran, Mohammadreza Manafi said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that Iran and Pakistan relations have experienced ups and downs but they are too strong to be affected by the coming and going of governments.

“Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s visit to Iran is his first trip to Tehran and he has a popular personality in Pakistan,” he said.

He noted that Bilawal Bhutto has personal tendencies toward Iran and we can’t ignore the new foreign minister of Pakistan’s religion which is Shia. The mother and father of Zardari are both Shia.

“It can be a mutual aspect between Iran and Bilawal Bhutto,” he added.

Emphasizing that Zardari is still young and can earn good experience through his presence in the foreign ministry, he said, “If he can leave an acceptable record, he can certainly get the consent of the next one-party government.”

Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived in the Iranian capital on Tuesday and was welcomed by the assistant to Iran's foreign minister and the director-general of the Foreign Ministry West Asia Department.
