KPA Blessed by Brilliant Commanders

The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK are victorious as they have been led by the brilliant commanders.

President Kim Il Sung founded the revolutionary armed forces and strengthened and developed them into an invincible army.

Having embarked on the road of revolution with a great ambition to win back his country deprived of by the Japanese imperialists, he founded the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army on April 25, Juche 21 (1932) and organized and launched an armed struggle against them. Under his leadership, the KPRA achieved the historic cause of national liberation in August 1945 by waging a do-or-die fight against the Japanese imperialists even in such a difficult situation in which it had neither state backing nor support from a regular army.

After the liberation of the country, the KPRA was developed into the Korean People’s Army, a regular revolutionary armed force. The KPA, founded on February 8, 1948, won a brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953) to defend the destiny of the country and the nation from the armed invasion of the allied imperialist forces. Being faithful to its mission of defending the country, the revolution and the people, the KPA, after the victorious Fatherland Liberation War, smashed the enemy’s risky provocations, upholding the military line of self-reliant defence and the banner of “a-match-for-a-hundred,” thereby firmly safeguarding the gains of the revolution.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who regarded it as the most important of all state affairs to increase the country’s military strength, built up the revolutionary armed forces into invincible ranks.

His leadership over the revolutionary armed forces started with his inspection of the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the KPA on August 25, Juche 49 (1960).

In the closing years of the last century when the DPRK had to undergo difficulties owing to the moves of the imperialists to isolate and suffocate it and the natural disasters that hit it for several consecutive years, he formulated Songun politics as the basic mode of socialist politics and prepared the KPA service personnel more firmly in the political, ideological, military and technical aspects through his ceaseless inspection of frontline units.

A system of state administration, in which national defence was given priority, was established and the defence industry developed on a priority basis. As a result, the KPA developed into the elite revolutionary armed forces equipped with the means of both attack and defence, and demonstrated its mettle as the hard-core unit not only in defending the country but also in making breakthroughs in major projects of socialist construction.

The KPA is demonstrating its dignity more powerfully as it is now led by Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un.

Under the uplifted banner of modelling the entire army on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, Kim Jong Un advanced a strategic line of strengthening the KPA politically and ideologically and making it morally sound and stronger in terms of military technology. He kindled the flames of the movement to win the title of crackshots as part of the efforts to round off the combat preparedness of the army, gave on-site guidance at actual manoeuvres and practice matches of KPA units and made painstaking efforts to prepare the KPA as a powerful army with the strongest military muscle.

Under his guidance, the KPA has developed into a match-for-a-hundred army, equipped with the Juche-oriented military strategies and tactics, art of warfare, spirit of bold attack and all-round practical abilities, firmly guaranteeing the cause of the Workers’ Party of Korea on the strength of arms. It is now performing its mission as a motive force of national defence in staunchly safeguarding the country and the people with credit in the face of military threats and unexpected nonmilitary challenges and giving full play to its invincible mettle as a genuine army of the people.

The military parades held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the WPK on October 10, 2020 and the Eighth Congress of the WPK on January 14, 2021 fully demonstrated the powerful might of the KPA which is defending the country and the people by dint of its powerful self-reliant defence capabilities and reliably ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
