Insured unemployed Iranians decline 2.4% Last Year

Official figures by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare show that a total of 220,533 people received unemployment benefits last year (March 2017-18), registering a 2.4% decline compared with the year before.
A total of 178,601 people were taken off the dole last year, Mehr News Agency reported.
Men accounted for 79% of the unemployed population covered by insurance last year. In the fiscal 2015-16, 212,413 people enjoyed jobless benefits while such payments were discontinued for 137,884 people. A total of 225,892 unemployed people went on the dole in the fiscal 2016-17 while the government narrowed down the list of unemployment compensation receivers by 182,467 in the same year.
