FM Spox undermines US senator's anti-JCPOA claims
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh in a message undermined the claims made by US Senator Ted Cruz who had said Joe Biden has ZERO constitutional authority to make that commitment.
"The world is acutely aware of what Mr. Cruz confesses: those regimes in Washington are rogue. Onus is on @POTUS to convince int'l community—incl all JCPOA participants—that his signature means something," Khatibzadeh wrote in his Twitter account on Tuesday.
"For that, 'objective guarantees' needed. No one would accept anything less," he added.
Khatibzadeh made the remarks reacting to Cruz's message through which he said, "Nope. Joe Biden has ZERO constitutional authority to make that commitment. Unless any deal w/ Iran is ratified by the Senate as a treaty—which Biden knows will NOT happen—it is a 100% certainty that any future Republican president will tear it up; Again."
Earlier addressing the press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said that measures and plans pursued by the Biden administration to date have been in contrast with the intention previously announced, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has heard enough words and was awaiting practical action that was months overdue.
