Iran’s former ambassador to Iraq has said that Iran believes that the final and main decision makers are the Iraqi parties and groups and no regional or transregional actors can impose an issue on them.

Offering his take on the recent trip of the Iraqi parliament speaker to Iran, Hassan Danaifar said in remarks to ILNA that “given its good neighborliness, close relations, influence, and connections, the Islamic Republic of Iran can help Iraqi friends, parties, and political factions to break the political deadlock.”

He said that Iran believes that the final and main decision makers are the Iraqi parties and groups, adding that “no regional or transregional actors can impose an issue on them.”

He also responded to a question about Iraq’s parliament findings on Iran’s recent missile attack on a building in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

He answered that “I read the report and it has different paragraphs. No clear judgments were made in the report on whether the buildings had any connections to the Zionist regime. This is a security matter often discussed in detail in security agencies.”

Commenting on the developments of the few recent weeks in the Palestinian occupied territories, he said that a significant part of the recent violence is related to the normalization of relations between some Arab countries with Israel.

“The solution is that the countries of the region, the Arab world, and the Muslim world get closer to each other and put aside their disagreements,” he said, adding that “further convergence in the Muslim world especially between influential countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt can rein in the Zionist regime’s insolence to a large extent.”
