Iranian Navy Identifies Burning Oil Tanker in Restricted Area of Sea of Oman
The Iranian Navy has identified a burning oil tanker that violated maritime restrictions in the Sea of Oman, according to a statement issued by the Navy’s public relations office.
According to ILNA, citing the Iranian Navy’s public relations office, Navy surveillance teams identified the violating tanker several hours ago while continuously monitoring the eastern approaches to the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker had caught fire in a restricted area.
The tanker had also switched off its tracking systems and was attempting to pass through the restricted area in the Sea of Oman.
The Iranian Navy stressed that unauthorized movements along routes and in restricted areas create insecurity and pose serious risks to other vessels.
