Tehran's Municipality is turned into a political party: Sorkhoo tells ILNA
Member of Tehran Council said that the city 's Municipality has turned into a political party.
"Mohsen Sorkho", Chairman of Tehran’s City Council’s Transportation Committee in his interview with ILNA called completing and fulfilling second five-year city plan, codification of the third programme and election of the Mayor as the main tasks of the fifth council.
"Currently Tehran Municipality has turned to a political party. The next Council should alter the mood and distance the Municipality from politicized spaces" he underlined.
According to Tehran’s Council member, the Mayor would certainly changes in the next Council, "regardless of who enters the City Council in the next term."
Regarding critiques of the Council’s performance in administrating proper means and measures for supervising the municipality’s decisions and performance, the top civil legislative official said: "During the fourth Counci, we tried hard to conduct full supervision on the organization but due to the full support that the municipality has received from many of the Council’s members, the aim has remained incomplete."
