Iran will do its utmost to prevent the adoption of the US-drafted resolution against the Palestinian resistance, Iran's foreign minister said during a phone conversation with the senior political leader of Hamas on Monday.

According to Media Diplomacy Center of Iran's foreign ministry, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Ismail Haniyeh exchanged views on the latest developments in Palestine.

Haniyeh pointed to the US move to submit a draft resolution to the United Nations General Assembly to condemn the Palestinian Islamic Movement and asked Iran to oppose the decision.

While stressing Iran's support for the rights of Palestinians, Zarif said, 'Due to some regional policies, the US government dares not only to violate international law and relocate its embassy to the holy Quds but also to put forward a resolution against the Palestinian people's resistance in the United Nations General Assembly.'

Iran's foreign minister assured Haniyeh that Iran and other Islamic countries will cooperate and will do everything in their power to prevent the ratification of the resolution.

If ratified, the resolution would for the first time denounce the Palestinian resistance and the Hamas movement.

The United Nations General Assembly will vote on Thursday on the US-drafted resolution, a measure championed by the United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
