JCPOA revival has never been U.S. priority: Shireen Hunter
A Research Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., believes that the JCPOA revival has never been a U.S. priority and the purpose of sanctions is to weaken Iran.
Shireen Hunter said in remarks to ILNA that “It seems that the Iran deal negotiations have reached a stalemate; the main reason is that Iran insists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps must be removed from the black list. In contrast, Joe Biden's government refuses to do so.”
“From the beginning of Biden’s administration, I believed that he wouldn’t revive the JCPOA and in some of my interviews, I said that Iran’s hopes for Biden were unfruitful,” she added.
Underlining that the JCPOA revival has never been a U.S. priority, she pointed out that the purpose of sanctions is not to counter Iran’s nuclear program but to weaken Iran.
