The head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran said that major issues such as providing appropriate guarantees, lifting sanctions, and removing the IRGC from the list of US terrorist groups are important issues that must be resolved before an agreement can be reached which in turn depends on the will of the United States.

The eighth round of talks in Vienna, which began on February 8 in the Austrian capital with the focus on lifting the oppressive and illegal sanctions against Iran, entered a break for the second time on March 11.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible country, has repeatedly stated that given that the United States has been a party to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action violation (JCPOA), it is Washington that must return to the agreement with the lifting of sanctions and that the US commitments must be verified.

The Chairman of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations met today ( on Monday ) with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the sidelines of the 2022 Doha Summit.

Referring to the developments in Lebanon and the region, Seyed Kamal Kharazi stated: "The solution to the Lebanese problems is to stop foreign interference and to hold internal talks."

Regarding issues related to JCPOA, Kharazi stressed: "Issues such as providing appropriate guarantees, lifting sanctions and removing the the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC ) from the list of US terrorist groups are important issues that must be resolved before an agreement can be reached on JCPOA." Of course, resolving these issues depends on the will of the United States.

Mikati also expressed hope for the lifting of sanctions against Iran, stating that with the lifting of sanctions, Iran will have the potential to play a strong role in the region's economy.

He also explained the problems facing Lebanon and called for maintaining national cohesion and unity in Lebanon as his top priority.
