Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, looks round the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace in Pyongyang, DPR Korea

Ten Years Embroidered with Love for Posterity

Today, our country places a top priority to raising the children as masters of future, regarding them as kings and queens of the country.

In retrospect, children’s palaces, camps, baby homes, children’s homes, Okryu Children’s Hospital and other edifices filled with love for posterity of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) were built in our country during the last ten years, and our children are now fulfilling their precious dreams and desires to their hearts’ content and their sonorous laughter resounds throughout the country.

It does not stop here. Our state has formulated it as its policy to provide school-age children with new school uniforms and stationery. It, some time ago, has fixed it as a policy to provide all children across the country with dairy products instead of soya bean milk at state’s expense despite all difficulties and hardships.

From the olden times, there is a saying that parents take a heavy load to raise one child.

But we have a parent for millions of children, not for one or two. And he regards it not as his trouble but happiness to take the heavy burdens of raising them.

He is none other than respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, whom millions of children follow as their own father.

Since the day when respected Comrade Kim Jong Un embraced all members of the Children’s Union in his wide bosom, he raised them to be the supporting pillars of powerful Korea of the future with the tender care of their father. He also saw to it that the law on introducing the universal 12-year compulsory education was adopted for the future of the country even in the face of harsh challenges and difficulties.

To devote for children even as the condition becomes worse and to take dynamic steps forward towards the future of communism with the might of that love: condensed here is the love for posterity and future of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The happy life of our children can hardly be imagined in the capitalist countries where children fall to victim of poverty, maltreatment and all kinds of social evils.

A short while ago, the “Global Times” of China revealed the true picture of various crimes including human trafficking and child labor in the U.S. It said that the U.S. has more than half a million child farmworkers who are suffering 10 hours of intense labor per day.

Children have no other way but to choose labor at school ages and cannot even bud their talents because they have no money. This is the real situation of the U.S., a so-called “beacon of human rights” and of other capitalist countries.

In our country, the issues relating to the children are discussed and decided as a first priority at the meetings discussing policies of the Party and state. This fact alone vividly shows what a great importance the WPK is attaching to the issues related to posterity.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un holds high the children as the masters of future who will shoulder the destiny of the country and he takes it as his pleasure to undergo all hardships for the posterity. Thanks to his outlook on the posterity and future, our children are now full of happiness and they sing happily the song “We are the happiest in the world.”

The future of the children of our country will be evermore bright and rosy.

Parent of Schoolchildren is State

Parents care much about food and clothes of their children. They also harbor high desire to bring up their children to be famous persons or talents of tomorrow, so that their children could play a big part in society. Accordingly, they do spare nothing to provide them with wonderful condition and environment of education.

In our country, the state takes full responsibility for the education and upbringing of the children, fully reading the desire of millions of parents.

The state provides all children of the country with excellent conditions and environment for the education and cultivation, and gives systematic and professional education to the children with extraordinary aptitudes and talents from an early age. This reality is something rarely seen even in the countries boasting of economic growth.

In the capitalist society where education is highly commercialized, the desire of parents to ensure higher education and good career of their children remains merely as an illusion.

This can be evidenced by the situation of education in the United States trumpeting what is called “well-being for all” and “equality for all.”

It is reported that students of a public university and a private university of the U.S. should pay about US$ 10,000 and US$ 50,000 respectively every year, and the fees for specialized education such as medical science amount to as much as US$ 500,000.

The people in capitalist societies, therefore, would hardly believe that there is a country where the children from ordinary families don’t know about school fees and the state becomes the parent of all schoolchildren to produce and provide, at its own expense, the school requisites to the children and students from the kindergartens to universities across the country.

This is not all.

In our country, the state undertakes, as its priority task, the work for steadily improving educational conditions and environment, to include construction or renovation of schoolchildren’s palaces, schoolchildren’s halls, children’s camps and schoolbag factories.

And there are branch schools and teachers for three pupils living in a mountainous village or on a light house islet. School buses, school trains and school ships are arranged for the children in remote areas. The entire country is mobilized to build schools for the children in the disaster-stricken areas. These are a feature of our socialist country.

One foreign newspaper wrote in an article about our country that the civilization in the DPRK has long reached quite a high level; in the domain of education alone, there are regular educational system and study-on-the-job system, both of them being highly developed; and the noteworthy point is that education is all free in the country.

There is brighter and more promising future ahead of our children, as they are blessed with the warm love of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is dedicating all his efforts to the development of education for the rising generation by becoming a benevolent and meticulous parent of all children and students of the country.
