Iraqi FM: Tehran-Baghdad ties strategic

Iraq's Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim in a message underlined the fact that Iran and Iraq enjoy strategic relations.

'Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim @maalhakim : Iraqi-Iranian relations are strategic based on fundamental elements, including: partnership, trade, culture, security and common interests of both countries,' Iraqi Foreign Ministry wrote in its Twitter account.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi heading a high-ranking delegation visited Iran on Saturday.

During his two-day stay in Tehran, Iranian and Iraqi officials held talks on the agreements signed by two countries in Iranian President Hassan Rouhani earlier visit to Iraq.

In Tehran, the Iraqi premier held talks with top Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani on bilateral issues and met with Supreme Leader of the Revolution.

He also visited the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (the eighth Shia Imam) in the city of Mashad, northeastern Iran.

Abdul-Mahdi’s trip to Tehran took place at the invitation of President Rouhani.
