For the Unity of Socialist Forces

In early March this year, Kim Jong Un paid an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This trip set up another milestone in strengthening the unity of socialist countries on the international political arena.

In his talks with the Vietnamese president, Kim Jong Un stressed that it is the consistent stand of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK to carry forward the blood-sealed relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the two parties from one generation to the next, true to the intentions of the preceding leaders. He affirmed his determination to promote mutual visits between the two countries, ensure regular cooperation and exchanges in all sectors, and develop them onto a new high. Then he expressed his will to consolidate and develop the bilateral relations in line with the demands of the new era and to cooperate in the sacred struggle for ensuring a happy and bright future for the peoples of the two countries.

His visit to Vietnam demonstrated the viability of the traditional relations between the two countries, which were forged in the struggle for realizing the common aims and ideals under the banner of socialism and strengthened through all manner of trials. It also served as an important occasion for developing the bilateral ties provided by the preceding leaders, generation after generation, century after century, and consolidating the bond of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

In his report to the Seventh Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, held in May 2016,  Kim Jong Un said that socialism is the hardcore force in the fight for anti-imperialist independence and it plays the decisive role in pushing the effort to shatter the imperialists’ moves for aggression and war and achieve global independence.

In recent years the DPRK leader conducted energetic external activities to consolidate unity among socialist countries.

During his several visits to China, the two parties and the two countries expressed firm support for and solidarity with each other in advancing the common cause of socialism; they also supported each other’s stand of independence in external relations. Thus, the bilateral relationship has grown solid on the basis of mutual trust. 

Kim Jong Un also developed the friendly and cooperative relations with Cuba onto a higher level. Recently, when the president of the Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba visited Pyongyang, he warmly received the guest and had cordial talks with him. During the talks, he expressed his unshakeable stand and will to expand and strengthen the strategic and comradely relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and the two countries in line with the requirements of the new era. The leaders of the two countries promised to keep holding hands raised under the banner of socialism and advance socialist construction in the two countries along the road of victory.

Thanks to Kim Jong Un’s proactive external activities, the DPRK has strengthened its ties with other socialist countries, the hardcore force for anti-imperialist independence, and opened a broad avenue for rejecting domination, subordination and interference in internal affairs, ensuring genuine international justice and propelling the cause of global independence.
