Tehran-Baghdad ties 'exemplary': Iran president

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday described his country's relations with Iraq as exemplary in the region, expressing hope that it could serve as a role model for the entire region.

Emphasizing the importance of Iraq's growth, development and prosperity, President Rouhani said that Iran would always support Baghdad in all spheres.

The remarks were made while the Iranian president received credentials of Saad Abdul Wahab Jawad Qandil, Iraq's new Ambassador to Tehran.

Referring to his imminent visit to Baghdad, President Rouhani said he was hopeful that important agreements would be signed during the visit.

The Iraqi ambassador for his part emphasized that Baghdad is willing to deepen its relations with Tehran in all fields.

'Iran is an important country to Iraq, and we will try to broaden our relations with Tehran,' Qandil said.

He also expressed hope that Rouhani's visit to Baghdad will be a valuable step in boosting ties between the two neighboring nations.
