Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari highlighted the country’s intelligence superiority over enemies and said more than 100 terrorist plots have been thwarted by the country’s security forces in the past two years.

Zolfaqari described the issue of the country’s security as very important and and warned that the enemies have imposed economic pressures on the Islamic Republic to create widespread discontent and civil disobedience.

He further said that over the past two years, more than 100 terrorist plots have been foiled by the country’s security forces.

The enemies want to undermine the security of the country, Zolfaqari said, adding that given the situation surrounding Iran, security of the country has become “exemplary”.

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

However, Iran is considered by many experts as the “island of stability” in a region which faces many security challenges.

In August 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the strong security in Iran despite crises and insecurity in the region.

“Thank God and through the appreciated efforts and endeavors of the military and security forces, the country enjoys a strong security shield while regional countries are filled with incidents and insecurity,” the Leader said.
