Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Saturday said White House accusations against other countries are politically-motivated, adding that the claim that Iran is interfering in the US congressional election stemmed from an unknown illusion.

Rejecting the US administration’s intelligence, judicial and security organizations’ baseless claims that Iran is seeking to influence US mid-term elections, he said that Iran’s principled policy is non-interference in other countries’ affairs.

Qasemi further noted that US national security advisor has earlier made a similar undocumented claim, adding that White House has been trying to level accusations against other countries with political motivations and adds name of a county on its list every day.

While the US president claims that Iran has been engaged in its' local affairs since he came to power and it is so weak that he is unable to think about regional issues, how come such a pre-occupied and introverted country, in their view, can interfere in a country’s congressional elections.

Trump withdrew from the seven-nation Iran nuclear deal in May, dismissing objections from the other countries in the accord.

Currently, the EU is mulling direct banking cooperation with Iran which will ensure continued banking and trade activities between them.
