US policies promoting human trafficking networks: Iran
US destabilizing and interventionist policies in the world, in Africa and West Asia in particular, have led to formation and promotion of human trafficking networks, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
'Tehran turns down the unfounded allegations against the Islamic Republic made by the US at its annual report on the anti-trafficking efforts,' Bahram Qasemi said in response to the US annual trafficking in persons report.
The report based on ungrounded sources and information is partial, one-sided and political, Qasemi added.
'By taking these measures, the US is trying to distract the global opinion from Washington's destabilizing policies in the world, the policies which have triggered formation and promotion of the human trafficking organized networks,' the spokesman said.
Amid international community's growing concerns over human trafficking, women and children in particular, releasing such partial and one-sided reports against the independent countries is not only against the international laws but also weakens the governments' international efforts and cooperation in fight against human trafficking crimes, said Qasemi underlining that the 'US should be accountable for consequences of its measures.'
US Department of State, at its annual trafficking in persons report, has made unfounded allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
