UK efforts to start banking cooperation with Iran; Hammond

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said that his country is bound to its obligations enshrined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action reached between Iran and G5+1.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif on Friday.

UK foreign minister said that London has done lots of efforts to start banking cooperation with Iran.

UK government is in cooperation with other European states to make suitable mechanisms for facilitation of banking issues between Iranian and European banks, he added.

CBI governor discussed bilateral trade and banking ties between Tehran and London as well as obstacles on way of banking transactions with UK foreign secretary.

Seif urged execution of JCPOA by western sides of the nuclear deal.

He called for strong presence of UK banks in Iran's banking transactions and encouraged London to facilitate complete resumtion of Iranian banks activities in Britain.
