Dehghan: I Am a Soldier of This Country, Will Serve Wherever Needed
Head of the Mostazafan said the number of the foundation’s companies has been reduced from over 200 to 110 through divestment, adding that all previously loss-making firms have either returned to profitability or been sold.
Hossein Dehghan, head of the Mostazafan Foundation, said the organization believes the private sector can perform better in managing companies, while noting that lessons from past privatization failures have been taken into account to avoid repeating previous experiences.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Iran Project Exhibition, Dehghan said the number of companies affiliated with the foundation has decreased from more than 200 to 110 through divestment.
He said certain principles were observed in the privatization process, including ensuring that companies serve as “driving engines” that contribute to improving the country’s business environment.
Dehghan added that since last year, the foundation has focused on attracting young and knowledge-based companies, supporting their expansion and entry into the market in order to benefit both the government and the private sector.
In response to an ILNA question about the number of loss-making companies within the 110 remaining firms, Dehghan said there are currently no loss-making companies in the Mostazafan Foundation, adding that all previously loss-making firms have either been turned profitable or divested.
In response to another question regarding the possibility of joining another institution, Dehghan said: “I am a soldier of this country, and I will be present wherever needed.”
