Iran has recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the spring with 7.7 percent, according to Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi.
President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran is to battle the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and unemployment at the same time.
Officials have been giving contradictory reports over unemployment in Iran. Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli last week said the rate reached 60 percent in some cities. Government spokesperson Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, however, denied that.
President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that the 12th government is to spare no efforts to tackle unemployment through annual creation of over 900,000 job opportunities.
