Students are not punished for their political or union opinions; Sarsangi tells ILNA

Tehran University Cultural Deputy said that students are not punished for their political or union opinions.
"During presidents Hassan Rouhani ’s time, we put our efforts in Science Ministry and all universities to respect students’ position and prevent previous disrespectful behaviors with "them", Tehran University Cultural Deputy, "Majid Sarsangi” told ILNA.
Adding that we can't punish students just because their opinions are not exactly the same as ours, he said: "The supreme leader in his remarks, continuously pointed the fact that students have the right to express their opinions, thought and criticize under constitutional frames."
Sarsangi, telling that good university is not a silent and passive one, emphasized: "A good university, is a university that it's students are concerned about their fate and future, a university that students can have dialogue with university authorities. During the last two months, we hold meeting discussions between the students and activists with university head and directors-board."
"Naturally we can't resolve all the problems. We all know how much of a challenging situation we face, but despite all these challenges, we try to use available capacities to address the problems" he emphasized.
According to top University official, the disciplinary committee didn't have a single case with criticism, union activity or political causes.
"We are proud of this. Current situation is totally different from previous one. Enhancement and growth only happens in such space and we are happy to have such an atmosphere in Tehran university. We hope that we can pave a path that will take all students rights in consideration. The students should be able to work under their own rights and authorities should stay accountable to them" Sarsangi added.
