FM: Iran ready with good will for sustainable agreement meeting Iranians' rights

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Thursday in a phone talk with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi that Tehran is ready for reaching a sustainable nuclear agreement to safeguard the Iranian nation’s interests.

Hossein Amirabdollahian and Wang Yi in their Thursday evening phone talk exchanged views on bilateral ties, some regional and international issues of mutual interest, and the talks with world powers aimed at removal of unilateral imposed US sanctions.

Amirabdollahian appreciated Beijing for inviting the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend to BRIX Conference and welcomed China’s initiative for enhanced international development and security.

He expressed hope that China’s rotating presidency in BRIX will lead to the expansion of multilateral cooperation.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the ongoing dialogue among the two countries' high-ranking officials provides a good basis for broadening Tehran-Beijing ties, adding: "We hope keeping in mind the harnessing of the coronavirus pandemic, the process of expansion of our bilateral ties, including in air transportations and exchange of university students will soon lead to practical cooperation.

On the process of the Vienna talks aimed at removal of the US sanctions, the Iranian foreign ministry emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready with full good will and quite seriously for reaching a sustainable agreement to safeguard the Iranian nation’s rights.

He all the same referred to the politically motivated International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) anti-Iran resolution that he said is quite unconstructive.

The Chinese foreign minister, for his part, welcomed President Ebrahim Raisi’s decision to attend the BRIX Conference, arguing that the objective of the dialogues there, keeping in mind the newly emerged markets, is economic proximity of the developing countries.

Wang Yi expressed hope that now that the quarantine conditions in Beijing have ended the presidents of the two countries will meet face to face there.

He also voiced Beijing’s opposition to unilateralism at the international scene, evaluating Iran’s strategic comprehensive participation with China quite constructive.

The Chinese foreign minister also voiced support for the continuation of the nuclear talks, and said that he agrees with Iran about being politically motivated of the IAEA anti-Iran resolution and that it is unconstructive.

Wang Yi also expressed hope that the diplomatic process will lead to achieving a good agreement in Vienna.
