By doing electricity projects in Iraq and by exporting technical and engineering services and energy, Iran can generate a good income from this country, a member of the energy commission in Iran's chamber of commerce has said.

Iran’s officials should consider that Iraq is a golden opportunity for doing electricity projects, Hamid Reza Salehi told ILNA.

Iraq doesn’t have the necessary infrastructure and Iran’s companies also have empty capacity and that using this opportunity can generate revenues in foreign currencies for the country and offset the decrease in non-oil revenues, he added.

Given that Iran possesses the second biggest gas reserves in the world and the 14th rank of electricity production in the world, it can have its share in Iraq’s electricity market.

Iran can meet a big part of Iraq’s electricity needs on condition that Tehran solves its issues in the region and resumes relations with the region's countries, he noted.
