Iran, Russia agree to use 2 countries’ currencies in foodstuff trade

ILNA: Russia and Iran agreed to use the Iranian rial and Russian ruble in their foodstuff trade, and probably later on in their other deals as well.

Russia’s Pravda daily that has announced the news has quoted the country’s federal supervising agency over the healthy animal husbandry and agricultural activities as saying that the two countries agreed to use the ruble and rial currencies in their bilateral foodstuff trades on Monday.

According to the report, Tehran and Moscow have expressed interest in strengthening bilateral trade, while supervising effectively over the quality and health index of the products, preserving the prices at acceptable level, increasing the volume of foodstuff products and their diversity.

Pravda has added that based on the agreement, Iran has also announced readiness to increase its foodstuff production in accordance with Russia’s announcement of demand for them.
