An Executive Director at Asia Centre believes that the COVID-19 health pandemic is a global emergency that requires strong multilateral cooperation.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message referred to his agreement with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the EU must stand against US' veto of Iran's loan request from IMF.
Addressing the International Monetary Fund, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdol Nasser Hemmati said that the loan could be channeled directly into the EU’s INSTEX trade vehicle and the SHTA, a financial channel run by the Swiss government urging that the present time is the time to act."
Iran says neither the United States nor any other country in the world, has the power to veto the loan requests of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) member states.
