-Supreme Commander of Anti-imperialist Front in the 20th Century

Nearly 70 years have passed since fireworks went off in the sky over the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in celebration of the victory in the three-year-long Fatherland Liberation War.

Marking July 27, V-day, the Korean people and the world’s progressives feel deep reverence for President Kim Il Sung, ever-victorious iron-willed commander and outstanding military strategist who led the fierce war (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) to victory, driving the US imperialists into a serious fatal setback.

Gomes, former Portuguese President, said: General Kim Il Sung single-handedly frustrated the operations plans which tens of generals from the Western countries had made after several rounds of discussion; I witnessed this and came to know that he was really a gifted military strategist and a great, brilliant commander without parallel in the world.

A foreign journalist who had stayed in the DPRK during the war wrote in his memoirs as follows:

“In confronting the allied forces of the US and other Western countries by leading the nascent Korean army and people whom others thought to be weak, Comrade Kim Il Sung single-handedly shattered to pieces the tactics drawn up by their strategists to the surprise of the international community. Any people and country, however small it may be, can become the most powerful and always emerge victorious in the struggle against formidable enemy when they are led by a peerlessly great man.”

This represents the feelings of many other people as well. The voices of the world people praising Kim Il Sung as the “great leader of the cause of independence,” “ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander” and “supreme commander of anti-imperialist front in the 20th century” resound far and wide from one century to the next.

-Brilliant Guards Units of KPA

At the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in the DPRK, there is a hall of guards units, which was arranged under the direct initiative and careful guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

In the period of the Fatherland Liberation War the guards units of the Korean People's Army (KPA) performed brilliant feats in every battle with the U.S. imperialist aggressors and brought about July 27 of victory under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung, the invincible and iron-willed commander.

Among them are the Seoul Guards 3rd Infantry Division, Seoul Kim Chaek Guards 4th Infantry Division and the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division, which won fame by liberating Seoul in three days after the start of the war and encircling and annihilating "undefeated divisions" and generals of the U.S. imperialists in such operations and battles as the Osan combat and the operations to liberate Taejon.

Those units had demonstrated the might of the heroic KPA from the first day of the war by advancing at an astonishing speed on the order of counteroffensive issued by Kim Il Sung.

The Guards 6th Infantry Division, too, performed great feats in battles to liberate the southern half of Korea.

The Guards 18th Infantry Regiment ran more than 40 km overnight to make a big contribution to perfecting the siege for the operations to liberate Taejon.

The Guards Second Torpedo-boat Flotilla is also a pride for the KPA Navy. The flotilla consisting of four torpedo-boats sank the U.S. heavy cruiser Baltimore, called a "moving island on the sea", and destroyed a light cruiser during the first stage of the war.

The Guards Hero Kim Ji Sang 56th Chaser Regiment of the KPA air force shot down many enemy aircraft and beat enemy group targets to reliably cover the KPA's ground operations by making the most of the Juche-oriented war tactics taught by the President during the war.

The colors of the Guards 19th Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment and the Guards 23rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment show the proud feats they made in battles to defend the sky of the country.

When visiting the hall of guards units newly arranged at the museum in Feb. Juche 104 (2015) to look round the guards colors and data on the guards units, Kim Jong Un said that the title of guards unit, instituted during the war, was the highest commendation and the greatest honor bestowed by the President with his wish that the remarkable merits of the heroic soldiers would go down in history and this proud tradition of struggle would be glorified through generations.

-Great Feats Recorded in History of Fatherland Liberation War

Recorded in the history of the Fatherland Liberation War, in which the soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) displayed popular heroism, is the merit of the defenders of Wolmi Islet who made a significant contribution to the victory in the war by containing the attack by the enemy's large armed forces in three days.

Wolmi Islet with an area of 0.66 square kilometers is located in the West Sea of Korea.

This islet was guarded by one coast artillery company and one infantry company of the KPA in September Juche 39 (1950).

At that time, MacArthur, commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East, bragged that they would bring the Inchon landing operation to success without fail.

The U.S. imperialists mobilized 50 000 troops, hundreds of warships and at least 1 000 planes for the operation on Wolmi Islet. And they turned the islet into a sea of flames by indiscriminate bombing and navel gunfire.

However, the KPA coast artillerymen on the islet honorably discharged their combat duty by displaying unparalleled bravery without the slightest vacillation at the U.S. imperialists' large armed forces. They sank or destroyed 13 warships of the enemy, including three destroyers, only with four artillery pieces and delayed the enemy's landing for three days.

Feature film "Wolmi Islet" and opera "Eternal Victors" impressively show the heroic feats of the defenders of the islet who performed a miracle in the world history of wars.

The spirit of defending the country displayed by the brave KPA soldiers instills ardent patriotism into the Korean people and inspires them to perform heroic feats.

-Miserable Fate of Murderous "Generals"

Every year, the DPRK people significantly celebrate the day of war victory when they displayed fireworks of victory after defeating the U.S. imperialists boasting of being the "strongest" in the world.

However, the U.S imperialists have waged outrageous and mean farces in order to alleviate their shameful defeat and agony in the Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953), describing their defeat as "war victory" and "forgotten victory".

The defeat recorded in history cannot be "war victory".

When the U.S. imperialists suffered defeat in every battle from the outbreak of the war ignited by them, they mobilized all murderous "generals" who practiced the war tactics of slaughtering and looting and performed "brilliant feats" in the aggressive wars.

Nevertheless, their operations faced a series of defeats in the Korean War.

Dean, commander of the U.S. 24th Infantry Division who boasted of the invincibleness, made his division totally destroyed and was captured by a soldier of the Korean People's Army while fleeing in military uniform of his soldier and thus plunged the prestige of the U.S. into the mud.

Walker, commander of the U.S. 8th Army Corps who was promoted with the tactics of extermination, was killed in an ambush of a KPA unit.

The murderous "generals" of the U.S. imperialists were dismissed in succession in the protracted war.

When the "general Christmas offensive" faced fiasco in the end of 1950, the war situation brought shameful end on MacArthur styling himself "Napoleon in the east".

Ridgway and Clark were branded as "defeated generals", and the new commander of the U.S. 8th Army Corps was dismissed as "incompetent commanding officer".

The commander of the 9th Army Corps of the U.S. imperialists was driven into the River Han to death together with a warplane, and the commander of the U.S. First Marine Division was called "grave general".
