A professor at the University of Bagdad has said that the reaction of the Iraqi people to the Duhok province attack sent a message to Turkey and the whole world that they are ready to fight against Turkey and will not accept any aggression against their land.

This isn’t the first time that the territorial integrity of Iraq is violated by Turkey; perhaps the weak internal cohesion of the country is the main reason for the increase of such violations, which continue unabated, Mohammad Tamimi said in remarks to ILNA.

The professor emphasized that several factors can be used to limit Turkey's interventions and finally end them by using military deterrence with different capabilities.

Iraq's internal weakness and the escalation of conflicts between political parties led many to believe that these parties and their conflicts are the main reason for the violation of Iraqi sovereignty, the professor noted.

The fear of intensification of conflicts between these political parties, which may lead to the breakdown of unity in Iraq, has taken away the power to respond to Turkish aggression, he added.

Turkey has historical ambitions in northern Iraq and seeks to revive the Ottoman Empire he said, adding, “It also has economic ambitions and ideological tendencies and based on that, it seeks excuses for intervention.”
