President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on Sunday faced calls by protesters to take action against gun violence as the pair visited Robb Elementary School to pay respects to the 21 victims who died during a May 24 attack.

"Do something!" CNN reported demonstrators yelled at the American president as he left mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Insider reported.

"We will," Biden replied.

On Sunday, the Department of Justice announced it will investigate the police response to the school shooting which killed 19 students, and two teachers and wounded 17 others. Law enforcement officials have changed their story at least a dozen times about their response during the attack.

In a national address following the shooting, Biden also called for renewed restrictions on assault weapons such as the ones used in the incident.

No federal legislation has been put forth yet, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declined to endorse new state laws in the wake of the shooting.
