An assistant Professor at the Friendship University of Russia has said that the U.S. and Britain through imposing a wide range of sanctions against Russia are seeking to create a rift between the EU and Russia and isolating Moscow.

Commenting on Russia’s retreat from the Ukraine war, Ahmad Vakhshiteh said in remarks to ILNA that it is so hard to definitely analyze this issue. ”Because at the beginning of the war no plans had been announced so we can’t say that Russia moves according to his plan.”

He said that two different understandings and approaches have taken shape in Russia over the last month.

“From one point of view; the current conflict will come to an end with a political reconciliation,” he added.

He continued that others believe that the conflict should come to an end with the complete and unconditional surrender of Kyiv.

Underlining that Russia didn’t expect this widespread level and unity in sanctions and punishment packages, he said, “The U.S. and Britain are seeking to create a rift between the EU and Russia and isolate Moscow rather than create deterrence through imposing a wide range of sanctions.”
