Secretary-General of the Workers House of Iran, extended condolences to Chinese labor unions following the deadly coal mine explosion in Changji.

Alireza Mahjoub, Secretary-General of Iran’s Workers House, extended condolences in a message addressed to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) following the deadly coal mine incident in Changji, China, which claimed the lives of 82 workers.

Mahjoub expressed sympathy with the Chinese people and workers over the incident.

“Dear Comrades,

It is with profound sorrow and grief that we received the heartbreaking news of the gas explosion at the coal mine in Jinyuan District, Changji City, Shanxi Province. This tragic disaster, which resulted in the death of 82 innocent workers and injuries to many others, has left a deep wound on the global labor community.

The Workers House of the Islamic Republic of Iran extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, Chinese labor unions, and all Chinese workers, and shares in this immense sorrow.

We pray for patience and endurance for the grieving families and for the swift recovery of the injured. We also appreciate the tireless efforts of the rescue and relief teams, as well as the emphasis by the President of China on investigating the causes of the incident and ensuring accountability of those responsible.

Iranian workers once again declare their solidarity with workers around the world and call for serious improvements in mine safety standards in order to protect the lives of hardworking laborers.
