Iranian MP says: Iran-China deal has not been signed yet

The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Abbas Moghtadaei urged “A subject which called the 25-year Iran-China deal has not been signed yet.”

Speaking to ILNA news agency correspondent, the Iranian Member of Parliament said that it is now only agreed to negotiate in this regard.

Asked what the current status of this agreement is, he said "We now have a statement that includes several clauses;” adding that this statement was titled “Iran-China 25 Year Comprehensive Partnership” so which is means that we initially agreed to come to a comprehensive 25-year contract in the future.

“We need to increase our ties with Asia because China will be the world's first trading power over the next 7-8 years,” he confirmed.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said everything about a 25-year cooperation agreement with China is clear and the two countries have nothing to hide about it. He also noted that Tehran will make the contents of the agreement public.

According to sources, China has promised to invest up to $400 billion over the duration of the agreement. In return, Iran would provide China with regular oil deliveries. The agreement also obliges Iran to use China’s fifth-generation telecommunication technology and internet platforms.
