Iran envoy presents credentials to UN chief

Iranian Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-e Ravanchi presented his credentials to UN Secretary General António Guterres.

Takht-e Ravanchi conveyed greetings of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to Guterres and undertook his mission at the United Nations.

He served as vice-president for political affairs at presidential office.

He has previously served as an Iranian top diplomat in the country's permanent mission to the United Nations, Iran’s ambassador to Bern, and deputy Iranian foreign minister for Euro-American affairs.

Takht-e Ravanchi was also a senior member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team which clinched a landmark deal with the six world powers – the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China in 2015.
