Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano has announced that Iran has been adhering to its JCPOA commitments.

Amano made the announcement in a meeting with Baroness Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, and Yousef Al Otaiba, the current United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States, in Carnegie Hall in New York on Monday.

He said that from the IAEA standpoint, Iran has so far been sticking to all its JCPOA commitments.

He referred to the JCPOA as a helpful and valuable accord for the international community.

Outlining the IAEA duties in connection with the nuclear accord, Amano said the duties fall within framework of verification and supervision over all Iran’s nuclear activities.

He said as far as verification is concerned, the IAEA officials have so far had access to all Iran’s facilities and different dimensions of its nuclear program, being witnessing and supervising full implementation of the JCPOA provisions.

To a question on Iran’s missile program and likely relations between Iran and Hizbollah and Hamas and support for Ansarallah in Yemen, which in opinion of the UAE envoy inconsistent with the JCPOA spirit, Amano said the IAEA has the duty to supervise nuclear program and confirm correspondence of Iran’s nuclear program with the nuclear deal’s provision and thus far, no such a violation of the provisions on Iran’s part has yet been observed.
