Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Thursday said that the United States is seeking to create division in Iranian society and disintegrate the country, but this “satanic dream” will never come true because the Iranians are strong and remain steadfast.

Major General Salami made the remark at the final session of the Second National Congress for Martyrs of Qom Province, which was held at Jamkaran Mosque on the outskirts of the provincial capital Qom.

He said that the US wants unrest in Iran where people are gripped by poverty and disappointment while they lack access to medicine and basic supplies.

But, he stressed, Washington will fail to make its dream come true because Iranians including women safeguard their values.

In addition, Salami said, Iran will keep its regional influence, continue to boost its defense power and overcome the economic problems it is facing.

The IRGC top commander further said that enemies have hatched plots against the Iranian nation, from the 1980s imposed war to other attempts over the past years, because they are angry with the nation over its support for Islam.

The US and the UK even created Takfirism with the aim of spreading a fake Islam to stop the increasing influence of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, but that project failed in light of the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and efforts by Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani who was martyred by the US, Salami said.

He noted that the enemies also impose sanctions on Iran to hinder its progress, but the country foiled that plot as well and made progress in every field including nuclear energy due to the leadership of the Supreme Leader who turned sanctions into opportunities for growth.
