An expert on international issues has dismissed the reduction of the level of relationships with Iran by European countries and said that the West still wants diplomacy with Iran.

Morteza Makki said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that the priorities of the European countries toward negotiations with Iran have changed to some extent.

These changes can be tactical or strategic, he said, adding that during the next few days it will be clearer if these changes are tactical or strategic.

Commenting on the recent meeting of Masih Alinejad with the president of France, the expert underlined that these behaviors during the past 43 years are not new but in the past one and half year when the Europeans were trying to revive the JCPOA, it is considered an approach that can marginalize the efforts to revive the JCPOA.

He also said that these approaches can make the atmosphere of normalization of ties between Iran and the West more complex and difficult.

“It doesn’t seem that Europe wants to decrease the level of its relations with Iran, they still want to keep the door of diplomacy with Iran half open,” he noted.
