Iran FM emphasizes need to use every potential to boost ties with Iraq

​Foreign minister while voicing Iran's support for the Iraqi government and nation once again, and satisfaction over the level of bilateral ties in various political, economic, and security fields, emphasized the need for using broad unused potentials to further expand economic cooperation.

Hossein Amirabdollahian made the comment in a meeting with Adel Abul Mahdi, the former Iraqi prime minister who was visiting Iran on Sunday evening, while exchanging views with him on issues of mutual interest, especially the latest developments in Iraq's political field and the major regional developments.

Amirabdollahian in the meeting expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran's satisfaction over the efforts made by Iraqi leaders, and especially by such personalities as Adel Abdul Mahdi, to preserve Iraq's national unity and the agreement reached in Iraqi Parliament for electing the new Iraqi president can commission the prime minister to introduced the new Iraqi cabinet ministers.

Adel Abdul Mahdi, too, in the meeting elaborated on the internal conditions in Iraq, and presented his own ideas about the major regional and international developments.

The two sides also talked about the latest status of the nuclear negotiations to remove the sanctions and the Iran-Saudi negotiations mediate by Iraq.
