An expert on energy has said that Europe wants the issue of JCPOA to be solved not only to use Iran’s oil and gas recourses but also to reduce its dependence on Russia.

If European and U.S. companies are to invest in Iran's oil and gas industries, at first the JCPOA should be signed and then the banking sanctions must be lifted, Ali Asghar Zargar said in remarks to ILNA.

He emphasized that if European countries want to invest in Iran based on the JCPOA, they must be sure that sanctions will not come back and the contracts will be sustainable.

Today, given the Russian and Ukrainian conditions, the role of Europe in dire need of oil and energy resources will be very strong and can have the necessary pressure on the United States, the expert said.

"In foreign policy, we have pursued neither Western nor Eastern policy and we are independent," he said.

Europe tends to have the issue of the JCPOA solved not only to invest in Iran but also to use Iran’s oil and gas recourses and reduce its dependence on Russia, he noted.

They have now realized that relying on a single power and source is a mistake and must manage their energy resources in a way that is politically and economically independent, he said.
