An expert on international relations said that one of the goals of the U.S. president's visit to the region is to build a regional consensus against Iran to put pressure on this country so that America can achieve what it wants on the nuclear issue.

Commenting on the aims of Joe Biden’s visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia, Amir Ali Abolfath said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that it seems that Joe Biden has set out this trip to fulfill three main goals.

The first aim is energy, the expert explained, saying that given the critical situation emanating form the Ukraine war, Saudi Arabia and its partners will be convinced in this trip to pump more oil to reduce the price of oil and gasoline inside the U.S.

The second aim is to build a regional consensus against Iran to put pressure on this country so that American can achieve what it wants in the nuclear issue, the expert continued.

The third aim is the issue of normalization between Riyadh and Tel Aviv, he added.

However, I do not think that the goals of this trip will be achieved in all three cases, he noted.
