FM: Iran supports political solution to solve Ukrainian crisis

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports dialogue and a political solution to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and emphasized the provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of the Italian Senate Commission for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Stefania Craxi.

He said he had conferred with his Italian counterpart on the activation of parliamentary diplomacy based on the protocol signed in 2000 regarding parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

He emphasized the role of the Iranian and Italian parliaments in helping expand the relations by approving the basic documents of the cooperation between the two countries and called for accelerating the approval of these documents by the Italian Parliament.

Regarding negotiations on lifting sanctions, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made intensive initiatives and efforts in recent months to reach a good and stable agreement and expects the US authorities to help finalize the agreement by adopting a realistic approach.

Meanwhile, Craxi pointed to the negative consequences of the Ukraine crisis, especially in the field of energy and food shortages that threaten the countries of the world, including in the Middle East and Africa.

She hailed Iran’s views regarding the Ukraine crisis as important as well as the negotiations on removing sanctions and expressed hope that the international community would experience more stable conditions.
