Iran FM highlights Iran-Syria capacities to develop all-out ties

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian reminded the capacities of the two countries to expand relations in the political, economic, industrial and commercial sectors as much as possible.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad in Damascus, Syria.

Amir Abdollahian described exchanging high-ranking delegations between the two countries as a sign of the strategic depth of relations.

He also termed the recent visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Tehran as a turning point in this regard.

He pointed to the unique role of Martyr General Qasem Soleimani in fighting terrorism in the region, especially in Iraq and Syria, as well as the efforts made by Martyr Soleimani and other defenders of Holy shrines, saying these joint efforts in fighting terrorism and takfiri groups have brought about a great asset and a strong foundation of friendship should be created on the basis of this great asset.

He reminded the capacities of the two countries to expand relations in the political, economic, industrial and commercial sectors as much as possible, saying that the technical and engineering capabilities in Iran can be used to implement large joint projects between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Mekdad hailed the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to Syria, saying: “It will deepen ties between the two countries.”

We are ready to expand our all-out relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.

He described the Syrian president's visit to Tehran as historic and fateful.

Referring to the efforts made by martyr Soleimani, he said Martyer Soleimani donated his blood in fighting against terrorism and saving the regional countries from American occupation.

Expressing satisfaction with Iran’s positions in the negotiations within the framework of the Astana meeting, he termed the Iranian government’s policies as wise and Iran’s current diplomacy as intelligent and based on wisdom.
