A former diplomat said that the international atmosphere has been affected by the U.S. pressure and as long as these pressures against our neighbors continue, the level of our relations with these countries will not go beyond a certain level.

Mohsen Rohisefat said in remarks to ILNA that Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan are the founders of ECO and they have mutual interests.

Commenting on how much Iran benefits from its relations with Pakistan or what could have been done, he said that “the international atmosphere has been affected by the U.S. pressure and as long as these pressures against our neighbors continue, the level of our relations with these countries will not go beyond a certain level.”

He added that Iran’s neighbors have economic relations with the U.S. and they aren’t willing to sacrifice their relations with the U.S. for relations with Iran.

The Raisi administration has sought to boost Iran’s relations with its neighbors. President Ebrahim Raisi has said repeatedly that boosting relations with neighbors is a priority for Iran.
