“Appropriate measures for countering Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been adopted at the Dogharoun border,” Iran's Ambassador to Afghanistan Bahador Aminian told ILNA.

Speaking to ILNA news agency, he said that due to the high sensitivity of the country's borders, various actions such as disinfection are carried out in the area every day.

Referring to installation of thermal camera at Dogharoun border, the Iranian official added “By installing the second thermal camera, passengers are controlled.”

“All the movements at this border are under extreme control.”

“Following coronavirus outbreak in Iran, issuance of visa for Afghan nationals have been halted till further notice but so far no positive case has been reported,” Bahador Aminian said.

He confirmed that over $ 2 billion is exported annually through Dogharoun Customs House, which indicates that this official route plays an important role in Afghanistan's trade.

Iran has exported $1.24 billion worth of commodities to Afghanistan since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2019) to top the list of world exporters to the neighboring country.

According to Central Statistical Organization of Afghanistan, Afghanistan has imported $8.3 billion worth of goods in the current Iranian year, witnessing an over 8% decline compared with last year’s corresponding period.
