Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs asked Iraqi officials on Monday to help boost mutual trade ties by removing obstacles for Iranian traders.

During his meeting with visiting Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Nazar Khairallah, Hossein Amirabdollahian called for removal of obstacles encountered by the Iranian trade companies doing business in Iraq.

He asked Iraqi officials to facilitate travel of Iranians to the country and help Iranian companies to do business more actively in the neighboring nation.

Amirabdollahian also congratulated the Iraqi Army on recent victories in its fight against terrorists and stressed Tehran's support for Baghdad in its battle against terrorist groups.

According to the Iranian official, the joint meeting of political committee was held to help the execution of bilateral agreements in fields of economy, trade, environment as well as consular and border fields.

Iraqi deputy foreign minister for political affairs for his part thanked Iran's support particularly in fight against terrorism.

Baghdad is keen to enhance ties with Iran, the official added.

He called for continuation of consultations between Iran and Iraq within the framework of joint political committee, adding that Tehran-Baghdad ties are key to establishment of peace and stability in the region.

The two officials discussed mutual ties and latest regional and international developments including the battle against terrorism.

Iraqi deputy foreign minister for political affairs arrived in Tehran on Sunday heading a delegation to hold consultations with the Iranian counterparts on political and international issues.
