OIC foreign ministers meet in Istanbul

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Istanbul on Monday to participate in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting.

Meeting of OIC foreign ministers as the most important executive department of this organization is under way with the presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

An Iranian delegation consisting of high-ranking officials headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araghchi participated in OIC expert meeting.

OIC Foreign Ministers' meeting is underway on April 24-25.

13th OIC Summit will be held on April 14-15 in Istanbul.

Based on previous information, 30 countries will participate in OIC summit.

The meeting which is to enhance the notion of solidarity and unity for justice and security is also discussing the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, Somalia, Mali, Jammu and Kashmir as well as the recent armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization founded in 1969 and consists of 57 member-states.

The organization states that it is 'the collective voice of the Muslim world' and works to 'safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony'.

The OIC has permanent delegations to the United Nations and the European Union.
