Iran, Russia agree on transit of 10m tons of goods

Iran and Russia agreed in a meeting in Moscow on the details of transiting 10 million tons of Russian goods through Iran’s north-south corridor.

Deputy Roads and Urban Development Minister in Transportation Shahriar Afandizadeh headed Iran’s delegation that included officials from aviation, maritime, and transportation agencies, as well as the private sector involved in transportation infrastructure.

Afandizadeh and Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev signed an agreement on transiting 10 million tons of Russian goods through Iran.

The Russian side agreed to invest in establishing logistic hubs to increase transit capacity, especially in Shahid Rajaei and Chabahar ports in southern Iran.
