A former Iranian member of parliament has said that Iran can begin developing Farzad field jointly with Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the joint development of Hengam joint field between Iran and Oman, Ali Bakhtiyar told ILNA that the more Iran strengthens ties with countries with which it has shared oil and gas fields, the more it can make use of these fields.

In fact, one of the joint fields that we can work on is the integration of “Hengam”, he said.

He asserted that in addition to Hengam, we can develop “Farzad” field jointly with Saudi Arabia. “Now there are efforts by the government to integrate the development of Farzad,” he said.

“Arash field is located in an area where the issue of demarcation and negotiations between Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait has been raised, in which Iran's share has not been considered due to some political issues, while all three countries must be present,” he added.

However, there have been talks between Iran and Kuwait before and Saudi Arabia has not played a role in that regard, he said.
