Afghanistan ready to set up joint chamber of commerce with Iran

Officials of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment have declared their country’s readiness to open an Iran-Afghanistan joint chamber of commerce.

The two countries decided to establish the joint chamber of commerce several years ago, but it has not been opened so far.

According to avapress.com, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) issued a statement on Friday, announcing that an Afghan delegation held talks with Iran’s executive board of the joint chamber of commerce and investment in order to coordinate mutual sessions in this respect.

Khan Jan Alokozay, the Senior Vice-Chairman of ACCI, described Iran as a great trade partner for Afghanistan, calling for more coordination to remove obstacles in the way of trade exchanges in border areas.

The Afghan official also went on to say that creation of the joint chamber of commerce and investment is a necessity to expand bilateral ties.

For his part, chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment Shafighollah Ataei referred to the expansion of trade exchanges between Afghanistan and Iran, calling for the removal of obstacles in the way of mutual trade, emphasizing the exchange of trade delegations, promoting exhibitions and joint investments.

Ataei further underlined that his country is ready to create a joint chamber of commerce with Iran.

The Iranian delegation present in the meeting underscored the need for the development of trade and investment between the two neighboring states.

It is worth mentioning that the joint Iran-Afghanistan chamber of commerce has been active for years, but this chamber has not been yet opened in Afghanistan for many years.
